Join The Skin Cancer Foundation for Skin Cancer Awareness Day at Yankee Stadium on Thursday, August 24

A portion of proceeds from tickets purchased through a special offer will be donated to the Foundation

New York, NY (July 26, 2023) – On Thursday, August 24, 2023, join The Skin Cancer Foundation and the New York Yankees for Skin Cancer Awareness Day at Yankee Stadium, as the Yankees face the Washington Nationals in an afternoon game. For each ticket sold through fevo.me/skincancerfoundation, the Yankees will donate $5 to The Skin Cancer Foundation (estimated donation value of $1,500). Fans who purchase these tickets will receive an official New York Yankees bucket hat co-branded with The Skin Cancer Foundation logo, as well as a regular-sized hot dog and one beverage.

These donations support The Skin Cancer Foundation’s public education efforts, including The Big See public service campaign and the Destination Healthy Skin community screening program, as well as their research grants initiative.

Ticket holders may take advantage of complimentary skin cancer screenings on the main level concourse between sections 217 and 223.

“Partnering with the Yankees is an exciting way to communicate our message, and we are grateful to their organization for making skin cancer awareness a priority,” says Deborah S. Sarnoff, MD, president of The Skin Cancer Foundation. “Furthermore, we appreciate Dr. Darrell Rigel organizing this effort and leading the screening component, as he has done for many years.”

Skin Cancer 101

The two main causes of skin cancer are the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays and using UV tanning beds. Skin cancer is the world’s most common cancer; one in five Americans will be diagnosed with the disease by age 70. The good news is that most skin cancer cases are curable if they are diagnosed and treated early enough. But in order to stop skin cancer, we have to spot it in time. That’s why The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends adults visit a dermatologist at least once a year for a full-body skin exams in addition to performing self-exams to look for anything new, changing or unusual.

Practicing daily sun protection can drastically reduce skin cancer risk. The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends everyone, no matter their skin tone, cover up with clothing, hats and sunglasses, seek shade and use sunscreen every day.
