Today is the last day of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, but our work is far from over. Since 1979, The Skin Cancer Foundation has worked tirelessly to arm the public with information on the prevention, detection and treatment of this disease. Our focus is simple: Education as a means to change behaviors and ultimately save lives.
Just last week, we received a message from Laura, a woman who was diagnosed with melanoma at the young age of 28. She shared with us that she caught the disease early and her prognosis is good. Laura thanked us for our important work around early detection.
Each year, with the help of our donors, we reach millions of people, like Laura, through our education programs and public awareness efforts. Some of the programs we’re most proud of include: Sun Smart U, our youth education program; Go With Your Own Glow®, our anti-tanning PSA campaign; Heads Up!, an early detection education program for beauty professionals; and Destination: Healthy Skin, our new skin cancer screening program, which will launch next week.
While we’ve made great progress, there is still so much more we can do and so much more we must do. With skin cancer rates on the rise, the need for education has never been more pressing and we can’t do it without you. Please make a tax-deductible donation so we can continue to deliver potentially lifesaving information to those who need it most. For every dollar donated, 89 cents goes directly to our education programs.
Thank you for being a Healthy Skin Champion!
